Several Methods for Measuring the Length of Stainless Steel Pipes
According to the different technological requirements of the manufacturer, there are many methods for measuring the length of steel tube. There are mainly the following:
1 grating ruler length measurement
The basic principle is that two fixed length grating rulers are set on the outer side of the two ends of the steel pipe, and the grating ruler is driven by rodless cylinder near the two ends of the stainless steel pipe. The measurement of the length of the steel pipe is realized by the interference of light.
It is characterized by high accuracy. However, grating rulers are expensive and difficult to maintain, which are sensitive to dust and site vibration.
2 Camera Length Measurement.
Camera length measurement is to measure the length of stainless steel pipe by image processing. Its principle is to install a series of photoelectric switches with equal distance on one section of the steel pipe conveying roller, and add light source and camera on the other section. When the steel pipe passes through this area, the length of the steel pipe can be determined according to the position of a photoelectric switch on the screen captured by a camera.
The feature is that on-line measurement can be realized. The length data of stainless steel pipe can be obtained without interval when it passes through the length measuring area. The lack is that if the special light source is not used to illuminate the steel pipe, it will be disturbed by external light. When the special light source is used, the light will be reflected strongly by the high brightness of the steel pipe at the end of the chamfered pipe, which will easily cause reading error.
3 Encoder Length Measurement
The principle is that the encoder is installed at the cylinder, and a series of photoelectric switches with equal distance are installed on the other side of the cylinder to drive the steel pipe to move on the roller. When the steel pipe is pushed by the cylinder to touch the photoelectric switch, the distance of the cylinder can be calculated from the recorded encoder reading, so that the length of the steel pipe can be calculated.
The feature is that the steel pipe needs to be raised when measuring length. In addition, there are some errors in photoelectric switch detection, which may need to be measured adequately.
4. Improved Encoder Length Measurement
This method is an indirect measurement method. The length of stainless steel pipe can be measured indirectly by measuring the distance between the two ends of stainless steel pipe and their respective reference points. Each end of the steel tube is equipped with a length measuring trolley, the initial position is zero, the distance is L, and then the walking distance from the length of the editor to each end of the steel tube is moved (L2L3L-L2-L3 is the length of the steel tube).
